Reflections
"There are some who can live without wild things, and some who cannot. These essays are the delights and dilemmas of one who cannot."
- Aldo Leopold, A Sand County Almanac
A naturalist is equal parts scientist and poet, thirsting for knowledge and deeply moved by beauty. As such, from time to time I find my scientific prose leaning precariously toward poetry as I wax lyrical to describe the overwhelming beauty of nature and the deep-seated desire I feel to protect it.
On this page is a collection of some of my most prosy poetry, my most poetic prose, my most lyrical philosophizing, gathered together as I reflect on the natural world and our precarious relationship with it.
